The Vineyards
Antonopoulos Vineyards controls a total of 75 hectares in the Peloponnese, with 23 hectares privately owned. The other 52 hectares belong to associate farmers that have collaborated with the company for many years and who cultivate their vineyards under the guidance of the Antonopoulos agronomists. The yields are strictly controlled and kept under 9 tons per hectare.
Basic common characteristic for all the Antonopoulos Vineyards has always been the excellent quality of the soil. In Achaia, where the selected varieties of Roditis, Lagorthi, Santameriana, Asproudes, Mavrodaphne, Vertzami, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are cultivated, the soils consist of various combinations of sand, clay and limestone. In Ilia the soil is sandy and in Arkadia, where the aromatic variety Moschofilero is cultivated, the soils consist of sand and clay.
